Iveta and Petr get engaged- Brandys edition

"Love makes the world go 'round"

My friend Iveta looking really excited about me pointing to her ring. It's like a Czech-knuckle sandwich

Happy Iveta... no punches to the face :)

Happy Heather and David... Petr bought Dave all sorts of new beers to try so he was a VERY happy man.

My dearest friends Iveta and Petr got engaged about 3 days before my sister and we went out to Brandys nad Labem on a very cold and rainy night to celebrate their engagement. Iveta, the master cook that she is, made more sushi and all sorts of dips for Dave. We all had a lot of wine, bohemian sekt, and beer and at 11:45pm Dave and I caught the last bus into the city. It was such a lovely night sharing our friend's happiness with them. Now to try and talk Iveta into wearing a dress for the wedding and having a big party!

Spring... before it turned cold again

"Sunshine makes the world a happier place."

Before heading back to Alabama for Katie's graduation my friend Sasha and I went to a park in the northern part of Prague called Stromovka. The park is massive and I had never been anywhere quite like it before. It was so beautiful I couldn't help but just take a ton of pictures.

Happy Couple sitting on a bench in Stromovka park
The first real warm day that we had I packed up my picnic blanket, put on some shorts and flip flops and headed to Riegrovy Sady. This park is really known for their massive beer garden that opens up in Spring and closes around October (weather permitting), but it's also a great place to enjoy a nice day outside with a good book.

My view from Riegrovy Sady... not too shabby

Super Cali Sweet 16

"Seriously, who doesn't love an LA-inspired birthday party? Like, totally?"
Our Friend CJ turned another year older on Saturday evening and what better way than to celebrate with an LA-inspired Valley girl theme pary. We were all instructed to dress in Cali Chic, which I am not really sure what that is, so I dressed Hollywood, but with out the slutty dress... sorry i don't own any, and hit the town for a night out with the girls.

Birthday Cake with Ikea Candle.

Jen brought a lovely refreshment for the evening. We thought that it was funny because it said "slzy" on the front of it. Come to find out from our resident Czech Translator, Christina, that it actually means tears. And whose tears could be crying over Vodka? STALIN'S of course!

Stalin's Tears... sad

After much jungle juice and Stalin's tears we all took our beautiful hats and headed out for a fun night out on a street called Dlouha in Prague. Literally the street means "long", I suppose because of all of the bars there? Who knows.
Me and the Birthday girl.. Seriously and Gnarly

After trying one or two bars (one included a Herna bar... one of the sleaziest establishments known to man-kind) we found a nice little one called N.O.D. It's kind of a indie/art bar that is usually pretty good. Saturday they had a graffiti art exhibit, which is always very Euro and cool.
Group Shot at N.O.D- Christina, me, CJ, and Jen

Our last and final bar was Harley's. Kind of a standard for Americans, Stag parties, and anyone who really wants to end their night on a high point...i.e. not remembering the night. We were successful in providing that type of entertainment for our birthday girl, while the rest of just kind of took pictures the remaining part of the night and acted silly.
Red Bull product placement.
It was a really fun night and I had so much fun with everyone. I am of course very happy that our dear friend CJ had a very nice birthday evening and at least enjoyed the drinks and many dance moves we tried to provide for her. And of course, the night finished with Jen and I going to McDonald's for what I can only imagine is the cure for hangovers everywhere... a double cheese burger! Thank you McDonald's for once again saving me from red bull and vodka!

Happy Birthday Bro and Sis

"How different my world would be with out you two crazy kids!"
Today my brother and sister turn 22 years old. Quite a mile stone when you think about it? I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world to not only have an amazing family, but to also have a brother and a sister whom I am so proud of and think the world of. I am a better person because of Katie and Jake. With out them, I would not be who I am today. Happy Birthday to the world's best brother and sister! I love you both so much!!!!!!

My Current Obsession

"These are pretty much worth not eating for a whole month. PLUS, I will go down a dress size, never a bad thing."
As most of you know, I have obsessions. Being American I have obsessions that need instant gradification, and when I cant find said obsession I become crazy. Ask anyone who knows about my 3 year search for Kelly green kid leather gloves... really it's bad. Well, ever since I went to London in January I have been in LOVE with the Bally Spring 2010 shoes! We don't have them in Prague and the closest thing to the Bally shoe is a shoe in Zara.. they are boring and beige. While the heel is a hospital ride waiting to happen on the cobblestone streets of Prague, I am willing to take that chance. Oh booties... I heart thee!

New Hair Cut

I LOVE my new hair cut. I went to another girl this time ( she only spoke Czech), and I am quite pleased with the result! Good thing too, because it had been a little over 7 months since I had had it cut last!

Thank you NPR

I was listening to NPR, like I try to do at least once a week, you know for weekly round up, and came across this little gem. Their names are Pomplamoose. They make youtube video music... some songs are covered and some are originals. They freakin rock!!!! And apparently you can buy them on itunes!
